Treatment using concentrated blood plasma

Maxillofacial surgeons have been using concentrated blood plasma since 1990.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrate of platelets, releasing growth factors, taken from the same patient. Platelets play the main role; they release growth factors - proteins, which are produced by various tissues in the body and which promote growth. Platelets also act as a hemostatic (bleeding decreasing) agent.

PRP promotes healing (stimulates bone mineralization and formation of new blood vessels), manages inflammation, reduces bleeding and scar formation. It is a method to facilitate recovery after surgical procedures. This procedure decreases the possibility of postoperative complications, promotes healing and allows for better results, is safe and does not require any other medication, chemical agents or donor cells, except for a small amount of your own blood.

Course of the procedure:

  • blood is taken from a vein;
  • the tube is put in a centrifuge, after the cells have been separated, the upper layer is extracted using a syringe;
  • the concentrate is injected into the area in two hours.
